FAQ

What can I gift?
We are looking for gifts of fanworks created new by you for your giftee. This is usually fanfic or fanart but things like animations, arts & crafts, podfics and other such things work too, so long as it's something you've created and put time and effort into. Moodboards, icons, banners and other forms of photo-edits aren't really in the spirit unless specifically greenlit by your giftee.
Gifts made in any part using any form of AI are absolutely prohibited, and any participant found to be using AI will be bannedWhat information do I get to work with?
You'll be sent at the very least your giftees name, the account they've signed up with, their likes and dislikes and whether they're okay with NSFW gifts. You'll receive as much detail as they've given in their sign-up. If you'd like more information, let us know ASAP and we can ask them on your behalf.What about DNWs?
You are welcome to list Do Not Wants in your signup and we will do our best to take these into account when doing matchups. If you recieve a request with a DNW we would ask you to respect it if possible, and let us know if there's a problem. Please just remember that this is a community exchange in the spirit of giving, not about getting a specific gift you'd like, so DNWs should be used only for triggers etc, not to box any creator in.I signed up but can't make/finish my gift on time. Can I withdraw/quit?
Of course! But please let us know ASAP if you think you can’t manage! This is so pinch-hitters have time to complete a gift and someone isn’t left without one. If you only need a few more days to finish, and are certain you'll be done by then, ask us for an extension instead.What do I do after finishing my gift?
You can let us know you're done if you'd like but don't post it publicly until the gifting period begins! When that time comes, post them to X or Bluesky with the hashtag #touransecretsanta2025 so we can show them off! You could also post them in the specified Discord channel. We do like to share all your creations on our original X account and so will crosspost from the other sources unless you ask us not to. If you'd prefer to remain anonymous, send us your gift via DM so that we can post it for you. If you're done and have extra time and energy, let us know if you'd be willing to pinch hit and we'll come to you first if needed!Can I create/request NSFW content?
You are free to request whatever you want but do not create something NSFW unless your giftee has stated that they're happy to receive it. When posting NSFW gifts to social media, please provide a link to the content so that the hashtag or channel itself remains suitable for all ages to browse.I don’t think I got a gift, what do I do?
Message us so we can look into it for you! Please do this ASAP. Queries received once we've gone back into hibernation will not be pursued.I want to pinch-hit but not sign up as a normal participant. Is that okay?

Absolutely! It's been a few years since we branched out but we know people worry. We have a Bluesky account if you want to message us there, or you can still sign up via Discord, join the server and DM the mod account. X will still be the fastest way to contact us, so give us a few days if using another method to respond. We're looking into making accounts on other sites but in the meantime spread the word to your friends!I don't use any social media sites at all and don't use Discord, can I still sign up?
Yes! So long as you use the sign up form linked above and provide us with working means of contact. However, we will still be aiming to post all gifts on our X feed so you have to be okay with sending it to us so we can post on your behalf.But what about AI scraping?
We completely understand if you don't want your art posted on X because of their AI bot tomfoolery. All we ask is that you send us some sort of preview thumbnail/crop/watermark/placeholder we can post instead to show you took part and inform your giftee. This can either link to the actual gift, or we can DM it for you, just please let us know.Absolutely no gifts are to be created using generative AI
Neither artwork or written gifts. Anyone found to have submitted a gift made using AI will be permanently banned from taking part.Who are the mods?
We have six Santa hands and a whole lot of love. Mod 1 is the ultimate mastermind, answering messages on X, Bluesky and by e-mail. Mod 2 is the matchup wizard, using the festive Discord Konnosuke to answer your questions. Mod 3 is the IT genius, rising from the shadows every October and rallying us into action. We spend most of the exchange period screaming incoherently from the shadows of anonymity and then fall into a deep sleep for the rest of the year. We look towards next year, our 10th year of running this exchange, with both wonder and trepidation.
